J-CALP - FAQ
  • What are the payment methods for lesson fees?
J-CALP accepts payments via bank transfer (Korea/Japan), Paypal, Payoneer, and Wise. All payments must be made in advance, and transfer fees are the responsibility of the learner. For Paypal payments, please note that an international transfer fee of 4.4% + $0.30 will be added to the lesson fee. If payment is not confirmed by the day of the lesson, please be aware that you may not be able to participate in the lesson.
  • If I want to change or cancel a lesson, what should I do?
If you cancel up to 12 hours before the lesson start time, we will refund the lesson fee. (For learners using tickets, we will return one ticket.) Please note that we cannot offer a refund for cancellations made after this time, regardless of the reason.
  • Is it possible to only receive learning consulting?
At J-CALP, we offer consulting that includes checking the current level of learners, proposing study methods to reach their goals, and suggesting desired schools that match the learners' wishes and levels. The consulting fee is $40, but it will be waived for those who have attended at least one J-CALP lesson.
  • What online lesson tools are used at J-CALP?
At J-CALP, we use all Google systems, such as Google Meet and Google Classroom. Please confirm in advance if you can use Google in your learning environment.
  • Does J-CALP offer art technical instruction (such as drawing)?
No, J-CALP does not currently offer art technique instruction due to the nature of online education, which makes it challenging to acquire precise drawing skills. Therefore, individuals who require art technique instruction will need to seek out schools or instructors on their own. Most art-focused vocational schools and universities in Japan prioritize qualities such as sensibility, expressive ability, and the ability to accurately express them in the Japanese language over technical skills. This is because they believe that technical skills can be developed extensively after enrollment. On the other hand, even if you have excellent sensibility and expressive ability, if your Japanese language skills are lacking, the effectiveness of conveying your work charmingly will be significantly reduced. In J-CALP's [Art] University Preparatory Class, we specialize in Japanese language education tailored to art, aiming to accurately express the sensibilities and expressive abilities of our learners. We also provide Japanese language education specifically for portfolio presentations, including planning, mindset, and follow-up for portfolio creation, all conducted by our art instruction specialist." If you need any further assistance or have more questions, please feel free to ask.
